PaleMoon browser problems
My T440p runs W7 Pro/SP1 64-bit.
Increasingly I find that PaleMoon only halfheartedly opens a website.
Example: https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/tumble- ... ryers-from
Under PaleMoon (V 28.6.1 64-bit) I cannot even scroll the page down, it only shows what the screen can 'hold', no scrolling 'slider' on the right.
Under Firefox (Quantum V 68.0.1 64-bit) it works perfectly.
Anybody else have that problem?

Re: PaleMoon browser problems
I dumped Moonchild and co's forks (Pale Moon and Basilisk) in favor of Chromium-based Slimjet almost a year ago. Specifically because I was fed up with unexplained sluggishness. In my experience, it would start snappy and progressively get worse, to the point that even switching tabs would be slow.
Bugs with various poorly designed websites, such as what you describe, were also becoming more common.
IMO, Moonchild and team are fighting a lost battle here; I was a pretty big supporter at first, and in my heart I'm still with them, but I think they stand no chance. The modern web is clearly developing at a faster pace than a small team can keep up with, and in ways that show obvious disregard of any approach other than specifically catering to the latest versions of the few "mainstream" browsers.

Re: PaleMoon browser problems
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having PM problems.
Actually it was you, dr_st, who got me onto PaleMoon a few years ago.
If Slimjet would let us move the tabs below the URL as well, I'd change to it in a heartbeat, but so far they have steadfastly refused that, in spite of numerous requests.
I found a way to get the tabs below the URL in Firefox, so I'll be good for now.
Once Slimjet comes around also, I'll switch to them.
So for the time being I'm going to dump PaleMoon and switch to Firefox Quantum.

Why do you care so much? I find it fascinating how this is considered such an important feature. You know, I used to also think it's the right way, because that's what I was used to.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 10:03 amIf Slimjet would let us move the tabs below the URL as well, I'd change to it in a heartbeat, but so far they have steadfastly refused that, in spite of numerous requests.

Really, from a UI point of view, tabs under URL is actually less consistent if you think about it: the URL bar is part of the tab - every tab has a different URL - so it makes more sense to have the tabs on top. For the last several years before the switch I was using Pale Moon with tabs on top, even though they always had an option to put them below the URL.

Old habits die hard, and I'm not exactly young anymore either.
Computers and the internet are just a hobby nowadays, I retired in the noughties.

Re: PaleMoon browser problems
I still mainly use Pale Moon without problems. My pet peeve is browsers that force you to include icons on the bookmark toolbar. On Pale Moon, I have 30 links visible on the horizontal bar; with icons+text I could only include about 20.
Work: T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS); T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS); forever.
Toys: X1 (first gen, Win 7); T450s (Win 7).

Re: PaleMoon browser problems
I've also been shifting away from Pale Moon to plain Firefox because of increasing number of issues. (I had also gotten into it from reading about it here.)

Re: PaleMoon browser problems
I gave up on Firefox also, because their AdblockPlus (or any other addon for that matter) does not let you hide elements (like images and text blocks in a webpage-header) permanently, the way PaleMoon's Adblock Latitude could.
I have now switched over to Waterfox, where I managed to install said Adblock Latitude, and also found a way to move the tabs below the URL.
If anybody is interested in this tabs-move:
in Windows go to: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Waterfox\Profiles\[your].default
Make a new sub-directory chrome (no capitals!)
Use Notepad or a similar editor, copy/paste the below content (without CODE: SELECT ALL) in it:
and save that file exactly as shown here: userChrome.css in that chrome subdirectory.
(Re)start the Waterfox browser.

Heh. I also moved away from Adblock to uBlock Origin. uBlock Origin also allows you to hide specific elements, although the interface is not as intuitive as the old Adblock one.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 12:14 amI gave up on Firefox also, because their AdblockPlus (or any other addon for that matter) does not let you hide elements (like images and text blocks in a webpage-header) permanently, the way PaleMoon's Adblock Latitude could.
