Windows 7 64-bit and T60 Drivers

#1 Post by DarkScythe » Sat Jan 10, 2009 5:01 pm

Hello,

I've decided to give the Windows 7 Beta a go on my T60.
I'm not entirely sure what drivers to install though. I assume I can just use the Vista ones, but I'm testing the 64-bit version of Windows 7, so I'm not sure if there's any distinction between that and the 32-bit version. All I know is 32-bit XP right now, so this is a pretty big jump in my knowledge. Windows has offered a couple drivers supposedly from Lenovo and ATI, but I'm not sure whether I should trust them or try to figure out what to get on the IBM Driver Matrix page.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

PS-
Thinkpad model/specs are in my sig, I simply swapped out my hard drive for the beta.

I´m currently writing this on my T60p running windows 7 beta 64bit. The new os is sweet, clean and so far as good as vista 64 bit. I used the system update software from lenovo do download drivers and software without any particular problems. The SU didn´t download keyboard customization program, but a manual install fixed this. Active protection, fingerprint, ati drivers, adobe cs3, all MS software, etc. is working properly; so far nothing to declare!

on my 60p active protection won't work for me and neither will the FN-buttons for adjusting the screen brightness. the on screen display of these buttons won't install either, says something about the registry. tried installing as admin, no luck.

I activated the function buttons with the equivalent 32-bit vista drivers. Just manually download the from Lenovos website and do an install.

These are the files:
Hotkey: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-68000
Kbd custom: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67288

The rest: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62928

Visit http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -BETA.html
for hard drive active protection 32/64 bit driver.

I successfully installed all drivers that work on vista 64 bit.

Lenovo System Interface driver installed successfully. I used latest System Update and installed all but some vista 64 patches that probably came with Windows 7 or are not neccessery.

I usually don´t use Access Connections, so can´t say anything there.

So far I could install VS2008, ACS3, itunes 64-bit, MSO2007 and use them in my work with no crashes, hangups, or any other peculiarities.
