T400 Chipset Drivers for Windows 7?

#1 Post by alpuzz » Sun Jan 11, 2009 10:43 am

I am running Windows 7 on a T400. The first thing I would always do with a clean Vista install was to install chipset and then Intel storage matrix drivers; However, the Vista chipset drivers won't install under 7. Are Windows 7 counterparts to these drivers available for the T400? If not, then are we even comparing apples to apples if we talk about boot times, performance benchmarks, etc?

Thanks,

Al

You can extract the Vista chipset driver by adding -a to the Intel Installer exe. The drivers will be actracted to C:\program Files\Intel. Let Windows 7 search for drivers at that path including subfolders and it will find and install some of the required device drivers.

Thanks! When I do the driver search, which device should I tell it to update?

Just start at the top level and let it search subfolders, it will find the correct driver.

You can also install in compatibility mode for Vista. This will install most of the packages that won't install normally but there are a few that still won't.
