Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Drivers

#1 Post by fiyota » Fri Jan 16, 2009 6:21 pm

If anybody out there is having problems getting their wireless network adapter working, here is the solution.

Symptoms:
-Wireless card showing up only as "Network Adapter" in Device Manager
-Lenovo System Update sees wireless adapter, and tries to install drivers with no luck
-Drivers Install correctly, but wrong device listed in Device Manager, with device failing to start (With windows Vista Drivers)

Solution:

1. Go here and download the drivers. Then extract to desktop.
2. Go to Device Manager (Start -> Right Click Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager)
3. Find "Network Adapter", most likely listed under "Other Devices"
4. Right click and choose "Update Device Software"
5. Select "Browse my Computer for driver software"
6. Browse to the location where you extracted the drivers.
7. Allow the process to finish

I hope this helps some of you out there having trouble getting your wireless cards working in Windows 7. I had come to my last ditch effort to get my wireless adapter working and thought I'd give the Windows XP drivers a try. I didn't have much hopes that they would be supported by 7, but they were!
