Partitioning for Dual Boot Setup

#1 Post by westpost » Tue Feb 03, 2009 7:24 pm

I want to partition my T60 hard drive so as to install W7b on a separate partition from the default XP partition that I already use daily. Is it necessary (or advisable) for the W7 partition to be a primary one rather than an extended? I want at start-up the option to boot either OS.

Thanks

[Edit: changed the word "active" to "primary"]

I have it as primary, non-active set. Both Vista and Win 7 are in my OS menu at boot-up, so I can switch between them without problems.

Versions of Windows from NT onward can install to a Logical Drive in an Extended Partition.
