Windows 7 on R61 - external display and lid issues

I've installed a clean version of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my R61. I have an external display connected and in Vista everything worked fine. It was my primary display and it did exactly what I wanted - the laptop display was turned off once the OS booted and I could close the lid normally and reopen it without that messing up the settings.

Now what happens is, I use the external display as my primary one, close the lid (the external display is still on), open the lid and the primary setting switches to my laptop display, with the external monitor going into standby. I've set the lid functions to "nothing happens" when I close the lid but the problem is still there...

Any help would do, I just want to use the external monitor at all times without getting any hassle from the laptop.
