Yeah, LEAP is a Cisco-proprietary thing.

It's very insecure, and not supported by Windows natively. I know Ubuntu Linux supported it for some reason.
A dedicated Cisco client would need to be installed to get LEAP connections working in Windows.

Intel's WiFi application use to support LEAP as well in Windows 2000/XP (but not in Vista/Win7).

Anyway, I run Windows 7 on a T43, which is several generations older than the T400, and it works great.

All IBM/Lenovo software for it has been updated over the past few months to work with Windows 7. Active Protection, power management stuff, HotKey driver, etc, etc.

Thanks for posting your comments. Now that Windows 7 is no longer just a release candidate, Technet has a couple of new videos on using MDT 2010: Video Part 1 and Video part 2. I am planning an upgrade across 5 laptops (3xT42 Pentium M 1.7 GHz running XP32, 1xT61 T7500 running XP64, 1xT400 T9400 running XP32). I prefer not to have both XP and Windows7 in separate partitions on the same hard drive.
  • Can you comment on the best way to take these T series thinkpads from XP PRO to Windows7?
  • Would you recommend using MDT 2010 instead of a clean OS install?
I appreciate your feedback.

I have T60 2007-c4u running Windows 7 RTM.

The one thing I cant get to work ( and I could not get to work with the win7 RC version) is the hotkey feature.

This is what shows on your monitor the volume bars when you hit up/down on your keyboard.

is what I tried downloading and installing.. no go!

any ideas? anybody have luck with this?

You need to install the system interface drivers also. I believe they need to be installed before the hotkey driver.

For volume keys work. Brigthness does change but there is no OSD.
