Win7 and problem with Power manager

#1 Post by WarhawkCZ » Wed Jun 03, 2009 3:02 am

Hello everyone,

I've got a weird problem with my Power Manager 3 under windows 7 RC 64bit version. I successfully installed drivers and other stuff, but when I click with left mouse button on green battery gauge bar (PM), I can't select power management profile, because Power Manager 3 application is opened (launched - after one click). It's really annoying. Has anybody same problem ? Any solution ?

PS: I tried it two times. At the first one, when I replaced my old power manager (works well) and second one yesterday, when I installed new and clear distribution of Win7.

note: Thinkpad T500:2081-CTO, 4G RAM, ATI3650 (chosen in BIOS)

I am Czech, I am sorry about my English.

Thank you !

Hi, I have the same problem, looks more like a "new feature"/regression than a bug to me... I've created a new thread about this issue at forums.lenovo.com, so hopefully somebody responsible will notice and the behaviour will be reverted to the much more useful one from previous versions.

Don't worry mate, your English is just fine! By the way, I'm Czech as well :D

I have the same issue.

Is there a way to fix it?

Just in case you haven't noticed: There is an alternative way to use the Power Manager. There is a "Gadget" for the Power Manager which can be added to the Desktop of Windows 7. Using this, I disabled the Power Manager in the Taskbar.
Not a fix to the problem, but maybe a workaround...

If you Right click on the task bar Icon you get a menu, if you Left click on it it will open Power Manager.

Indeed! The latest version of windows 7 battery gauge has the functionality of a taskbar button. AFAIK, same design is applied to other Lenovo utilities in Windows 7. In this case I prefer to hide the battery gauge, not because of the new functions, but because of the slightly weird design. There was also an older version of Power Manager for Windows 7 with the classic battery gauge.
