WOW Windows 7 is great but I cant adjust my brightness

#1 Post by eskimochaos2 » Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:59 pm

Just loaded RC Windows 7 on my T61p and everything is awesome except for the fact that I cant adjust the screen brightness. I have installed power manager, power manager driver, system interface driver, hotkey driver and still cant adjust the brightness. I have tried custom power schemes, changing the power scheme etc but it wont change. I hit the fn + home and end and the green brightness bar appears but does not change the brightness of the screen.

I can change the power scheme and restart and it will start on dim for maximum battery life and will run full brightness with maximum power - thats the only time it changes.

Any ideas guys?

Have you tried new beta drivers? They have fixed the problems all around.

If it was a snake, it would bite you. Look up one thread at the README Sticky.

Ive had this problem on and off. I cant pin down whats causing it. Generally seems like it happens after a suspend.

I had the same issue. The brightness OSD indicator would show changing level, but brightness would remain the same. I installed video drivers from Lenovo's site (T61) and it started working. I have the nVidia card, btw.

I'm having the same problem on my T61 with Win7 RC1 64-bit. The screen brightness will not change once I boot into Windows. The indicator shows on the screen but the brightness level won't change.

I just installed the latest beta drivers from nvidia (190.15 modified by Guru3D ) and brightness works like charm.

I have the same problem, with a little exception. I downloaded the video driver from nvidia site, but when i tried to install, it said: "nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware". I could not install the video driver, and my brightness is not adjustable, it stucks at a given level when i boot win7. Any suggestion? I have all the beta drivers.

Yes, use the driver I have linked above from Guru3D that is working for others. The inf within that download has been modified to be compatible with nVidia Mobile chipsets.

Unfortunately the graphic 3D performance is awful. Starting WoW and any 3D game results in fading and shadowing of every object in the game. Reverted back to Win 7 nVidia drivers. Ill take the performance over the ability to control screen brightness as I have no need to lower it anyway.

I tried on a T61 (7662) - does anyone notice that videos look extremely pixelated as if nothing is antialiased at all?

I reverted back to the original Lenovo drivers and videos look as they should again. So far I've not had any problems with the brightness control.

I received a new nvidia display driver via win update for my W7 x64 T61p the other day. Forceware 186.94. Seems to be working fine here.

Unfortunately, the NV140m still is included in the drivers from Windows Update. There is nothing on the Nvidia site either.``````````````

I did download the 191.00 Nvidia drivers for Win x64 from LaptopVideo2go.com and everything it working very well. I downloaded and extracted the Nvidia drivers, then replaced the standard .INF file with the modified .INF file available from the site.
