Problems with Ericsson WWAN in Windows 7 RTM on X200

#1 Post by TJMacGyver » Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:31 pm

Hi

I'm having trouble getting the Ericsson F3507G WWAN card to work in windows 7 on an X200

I'm using these drivers for the Ericsson F3507G WWAN: 7uwc46ww

I can initialize it using AT commands and get a connection through built in windows dial-up connection.
But after the laptop has been in sleep mode, the only way I can the modem responding again is to turn the radio-switch to off for a while and then back. And the I have to do the AT-commands again.

If I install Access connections (6jc707us) I can use that to initialize the modem, but I can't get a connection, because I need to set a costum APN, which I do in the location profiles, but it does't seem like the ned APN is used ( I need to use bredband.oister.dk, and it keeps using data.tre.dk) also the modem needs to dial *99# to make a connection, I don't know if this is done.
Some other problems with Access Connections is that when it's installed I can't start the GPS utility.
And worst of all, whenever it's installed, my explorer.exe process uses close to 700MB of memory (now it's only 38 and AC is uninstalled)

But if I start the GPS utility and press start, it will ask me for the PIN, and it will initialize the modem, so I can use a build in dial up connection.

So I'm wondering if there is anyone who has got the Ericsson WWAN running smoothly, if you have please tell me how :)

Regards

I installed AC and disabled PIN-security and the I uninstalled AC again :)
After reboot the modem initializes correctly when turning it on using hotkey, and I can make a connection using nothing but the built in dial-up connection :)

donzoomik# Thanks alot for your help!

I've had sleep problem since Vista. It seems that the card is not properly shut down before standby. If you disconnect and turn it off manually, it will respond fine next time.

You don't need AC to bootstrap the modem, you can use AT commands in device properties to set APN. AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","APN" Replace APN with your APN.

I disabled PIN check, i found it simply useless and distracting on a PC.

Dial *99# on your modem and it should fire up.

Take notice that i'm not yet running RTM, but 7201, but i guess i can test it tomorrow.

I have set the APN in the modem properties "Extra initialization commands" and it connects fine when I dial *99#
But I haven't been able to get it to connect in AC anyways :)

How do you disable the PIN check?

The reason that I wanted to get it to work in AC is so that I don't have to initialize the modem AT commands in a terminal each time I need to use it after a sleep cycle.

I originally used AC, but i'm pretty sure you can use AT commands.

Edit:
I checked with RTM and it works fine. It properly uses initialization commands to set APN, even after sleep and connects using *99#.

Did you use AC? or was that only with the build in windows dialup connection?

Spend spend a lot of time trying to get this to work :)
So what did you install to get it to work?

Is it possible have more than one AT command in the "Extra initialization commands" in the modem->propperties->advanced tab, which is where i'm guessing you're putting your APN string :)

No AC, i consider it bloat and hard to use, only Windows dial-up.
My only initialization command: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.emt.ee"
Only beta driver from Lenovo installed.

Thats the exact same setup/install as I have.
Do you have to initialize the modem with the "AT+CFUN=1"- command before you can connect? I do :)

I can turn on the WWAN-radio with Fn-F5, it changes to "On" status, but the led under the screen doesn't come on, and I still have to initialize the modem with the "AT+CFUN=1"- command through a terminal, or I can start up the gps software, wihch also initializes the modem properly.

It sucks that the dialer can't initialize the modem properly :)

Strange that your modem doesn't turn on properly, Hotkeys updated?. For me it takes several clicks to react. I haven't used terminal since GPS started working on Windows 7.
