T500 audio and hotkeys not working in Win 7 Ultimate

#1 Post by elisecicle » Mon Sep 21, 2009 3:14 pm

I've searched through existing posts, but forgive me if this is a duplicate request.

I installed Win 7 Ultimate RTM on a new hard drive for my T500. I agree that everything seems _much_ faster and smoother. But I can't get the audio to work. Win 7 currently recognizes a "High Definition Audio Device," but doesn't allow sound through except for the DOS-like beeps. I tried running the old driver in compatibility mode to no avail. I tried having Win 7 search for a driver online. Still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Perhaps it's related to not having the correct audio drivers, but I can't get any of my volume or mute hotkeys to work in Win 7 either. I installed the old drivers in compatibility mode, but still nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Elise

Update: I reinstalled the Vista audio (yet again) in compatibility mode and it magically seemed to make the audio work (volume was turned all the way down as default, though). Hotkeys are working now too, but they don't show on the display when I use them. Any suggestions?

Try using the following site to find the correct driver for your hardware:
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

I had a problem with windows 7 where it couldn't find the driver for my gfx card but I managed to find it through thier catalog.

I had a similar issue with my W500. I upgraded the bios and installed the system interface, then hot key driver and it now works. Hope this helps.
