Enable/disable bluetooth when using dock

#1 Post by artoo » Sun Oct 11, 2009 3:09 pm

Hi all,
I installed Windows 7 on my X200, and after installing HotKey drivers, I can use fn+f5 to enable/disable wireless and bluetooth.
My questions is, how do I enable/disable bluetooth when I'm using a dock station?
My external keyboard doesn't have fn key on it, and it seems that both Windows 7 and Thinkvantage Access Connections don't have software bluetooth switch. It's a bit annoying if I need to open the lid to do that
Thank you!

Use the Thinkpad Keyboard Customizer. You can assign a Key for FN (I prefer the right CTRL)
Own:
X22 (640MB, P3-M 800)
T61p (8GB, T7700)
X40 (1,5GB, PM738)

Sold:
380 (64MB, P233MMX)
A21m (256MB, Mobile P3 700)
T21 (512MB, Mobile P3 800
T23 (768MB, P3-M 1.13)
T41p (2GB, PM 1,7)

For anyone else reading this thread, the Thinkvantage Productivity Center has a soft switch for wireless radios in XP and Vista. Unfortunately Lenovo chose to discontinue that utility in Windows 7.

Hi Harryc,

In fact, Thinkvantage Productivity Center really works!

I installed both Productivity Center and Access Connections, then customized the Quick Links of Productivity Center to add "Power on (off) Bluetooth Radio". If only the former is installed there would be no such item. Besides, in order to run Productivity Center in Windows 7, I set the compatibility of the executable to Vista SP2.

The version of these tools I use is:
Access Connections 6hcv42ww.exe
Productivity Center 7vuy02ew.exe

Thank you for your suggestion!
