Battery life X61s

#1 Post by andykrej » Tue Oct 13, 2009 10:10 am

Installed 7 RTM and compared batterly life to XP:

Win 7 (idle): 9:33Hrs @ 8.4 W
XP (idle):11:40Hrs @ 6.8 W

In both cases: All drivers and power managers installed (including fan control). Wireless was off, brightness at min.

I know I should make a test with real use, but out of theese results, I must admit, I'm quite disappointed with 7's battery usage.

Anyone wishes to post their numbers?

is it true ? I am wondering to install windows 7 on my x41, but battery life is for me the biggest priority ... so I don´t know.

I am running win 7 on my desktop PC and I am happy with that, faster performane that on vista.

My X61s uses a 10-11W when idle and with the screen set to minimum. WLAN and bluetooth are off. This is with Win7 Ultimate, 64 Bit, and all the relevant Lenovo drivers.

I bet Redmond is already aware of this issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming patch or SP. The mobile market is too huge to ignore the problem.

Lets hope they get it right. Would like to have the option at some point.
