Upgrade versus New Install

I'm awaiting my pre-ordered Win7 DVD to show up at the end of the week to install on my T61. I'm curious - is there a big performance difference doing a clean install versus upgrading from Vista Business?

I know its always cleaner to do a clean install but I'm trying to decide if it's really worth the time with my schedule being really crazy these days...

Can you provide any specifics on pros and cons of each approach?
