Sorry to ask, but what is the problem here? One installs Win 7, downloads "System Update" from Lenovo, and let it do the rest. That's it, the Thinkpad runs Windows 7...
As far as slight optimizations are concerned (patching the registry to load stuff in a particular order): This might have an effect on day one, when one is performing a benchmark test. As soon as the usual amount of applications is installed I predict that there won't be any difference
