Windows 7 on X200, driver install order??

#1 Post by billymcq » Mon Oct 26, 2009 10:26 am

ThinkPad X200 7454-2QU

I'm going to be loading windows 7 home premium (probably 64-bit) on my x200 in the next day or two. All the drivers are downloaded. I know some of the drivers have dependencies (power b4 AC, turbo mem b4 matrix) but was wondering if there is a "correct" order to install the drivers in on thinkpads. I'm sure it doesn't make a huge difference but I figured I would ask. Right now, I'm planning on installing them in the order listed:

1) Lenovo System Interface Driver for Windows7
2) <couldn't find an intel chipset driver>
3) Intel GM45 Display Driver for Windows 7
4) Conexant Audio Software for Windows 7
5) Intel AMT 4.2 - Local Manageability Service (LMS) and Serial Over LAN (SOL) Driver for Windows 7
6) Intel AMT 4.2 - Management Engine Interface for Windows 7
7) Intel Turbo Memory Driver for Windows 7
8)Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Windows 7
9) Hotkey driver for Windows 7
10) ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows 7
11) Power Manager for Windows 7
12) Modem Software Adapter for Windows 7
13) Intel Wireless LAN (11bgn) for Windows 7
14) ThinkVantage Access Connections
15) ThinkVantage Active Protection System for Windows 7
16) TrackPoint driver for Windows 7
17) Lenovo Fingerprint Software for Windows 7
18) Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7
19) Integrated Camera Software for Windows 7
20) System Update 4.0
21) Rescue and Recovery® 4.3 for Windows 7

Also, I'm assuming windows 7 will pick up some of the basic drivers on its own (video, nic, chipset, etc.), so should I leave those or overwrite them with the drivers from lenovo? Any input would be great.

I would install System Update 4 and let it install all the drivers for you. If it doesn't install one then go looking for it. Based on your list, I would install the power management driver before the hotkey utility.
