Windows 7 and Access Connections

#1 Post by jdhurst » Fri Nov 27, 2009 9:25 pm

I put Windows 7 on my T61p Thinkpad (another story in another thread). I loaded Access Connections 5.42 for Windows 7. It all works.

The icon in the System Tray for Access Connections is hideously large. It forces the Task Bar to be two units high. They might just as well have made the icon full screen so you could not use your computer. Is there any way to make this icon smaller. I cannot find the way (:

Thanks, ... JDH

As far as I can tell there is no way to change the AC Taskbar icon size by itself.
You can disable it, however.
Is your Taskbar unlocked?
Screen resolution?
Accessibility?
Just throwing out stuff.

Does it look like this?

Mine looks like the jpg that ARD posted also. I like it. I am running W7 Pro x64 on both a T61p with 1900 x 1200 and on a W700 with 1900 x 1200. Looks the same both places.

I am not using Access Connections in Windows 7 so perhaps what I am going to say is in error, however the Access Connections icon I am familiar with in XP looks like the third icon to the left from the time/date display in the sceenshot above (the icon that looks like a display on top of some piping). The other larger icon on the far left of the notification area group looks similar to the additional icon that can be added for the wireless adapter. IIRC, this icon can be turned off from either Access Connections, or from one of the Wireless Adapter properties boxes.

Access Connections has worked reliably for me in Windows XP, but I have had problems in Vista and Win 7 beta where my multiboot setup seemed to break Access Connections. I have not bothered to install Access Connections in Windows 7 Professional.

Yes, it looks just like the picture ARD pointed to. I found a fix

Launch Access Connections, go to Global Notifications, deselect Icon that show connection and select instead the regular AC icon. Works great and my task bar is back to normal.
