Lenovo ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse & Windows 7

The Lenovo ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse doesn't work fine after the OS was upgraded from Windows Vista Pro to & Windows 7 Pro in my ThinkPad X301. In the Microsoft Outlook 2007 and the Word 2007 (SP2) programs, the mouse only works for commands: it is unusable in the window where the text is typed. I tried the Lenovo "bluetooth_laser_mouse.zip" and "tp_bt_laser_mouse.exe" packages or patches unsuccessfully. It is a real pain try to use this mouse under Windows 7. It was working fine under Windows Vista Pro before.

The installed software is:
1. Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager -> BLUETOOTH RADIOS -> Two installations: 1.1) Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator (Driver: Microsoft 21-Jun-06 v6.1.7600.16385); 1.2) ThinkPad Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (Driver: Broadcom 15-Jun-09 v6.2.0.9000).
2. Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager -> MICE AND OTHER POINTING DEVICES -> Two installations: 2.1) ThinkPad Bluettoth Laser Mouse (Driver: Lenovo 06-May-09 v1.9.0.9); 2.2) ThinkPad Ultranav (Driver: Alps 21-Jul-09 v7.202.1616.204).

I would appreciate any help in order to solve this annoying mouse behavior.

just try to uninstall Lenovo software

I uninstalled the "ThinkPad Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (Driver: Broadcom 15-Jun-09 v6.2.0.9000)" and it was replaced with "Generic Bluetooth Adapter, Microsoft 21-Jun06 v6.1.7600.16385" but the mouse is still unusable in Microsoft Outlook 2007 and Word 2007 where it operates only for commands: impossible select text and locate the insertion point. Must I uninstall the "ThinkPad Bluettoth Laser Mouse (Driver: Lenovo 06-May-09 v1.9.0.9" also? If this is the case how to replace the uninstalled driver? Thank you.

I talked about mouse driver, win7 will install its own driver.

Thank you. I'll try again. I was fighting with the mouse driver. I uninstalled the Lenovo Mouse Driver BUT Windows 7 reinstall the Lenovo driver. Sadly, I don't know how to avoid the Lenovo re-installation made by Windows 7. I tryed unsuccessfuly with the same procedures I used to change the Bluetooth driver.

I did a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate and downloaded the mouse drivers from Lenovo's Windows 7 BETA page (which seems to be gone now) - never had any problems with the ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse.

The problem with the Lenovo ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse (and others) and ThinkPad computers and Windows 7 is driver independent. Lenovo just opened its own Web Page to instruct about how to solve PROVISIONALLY the problem:
Symptom

Users cannot select text in the Microsoft(R) Office Word 2007 or the Microsoft Office Outlook(R) 2007 program when the ThinkVantage(R) Password Manager program is running.

Affected configurations

Computers with the Microsoft Windows(R) 7 operating system, the Microsoft Office 2007 program, and the Web release version of the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution 8.3 program installed.

Solution

To solve the problem, users can either disable the hotkey feature of the Password Manager program or completely disable the Password Manager program.

To disable the hotkey feature of the Password Manager program, do the following:

Click Start -> Run. Type regedit, and click OK.
Locate or apply the following registry: [HKCU\software\lenovo\client security solution\password manager] "DisableHotkeys"=dword:0000001
Set the value to 1.
Restart the system.
This workaround does not disable the other features of the Password Manager program; however, because the hotkey feature is disabled, users cannot press the hotkey Ctrl+F2 to manually recall passwords.
