FireGL v5200 ->Windows getting x1400 driver

#1 Post by triallen » Sat Dec 12, 2009 7:11 pm

I recently replaced the motherboard for my t60 2623-d7u with a firegl v5200 board. I did a clean install of Windows 7, but when I run Windows update it tries to install the driver for radeon x1400 card. The driver works for the most part, but it only reads 128 mb of dedicated video ram. Also, when I try to get my Windows experience index, it runs the entire program only to at the very end say theres a driver error. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

See the link posted by plexman. You probably need to use Driver Sweeper to get rid of the X1400 driver.

Well I went through all those instructions and got to the point where you manually install the driver. The only hardware listed is x1400. Pretty sure I got the wrong motherboard, despite the graphics chip looking similar to an actual FireGL http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l296/ ... ic142q.jpg. My chip had the same arrangement except that it does not say FireGL nor does it say Radeon x1400. Just says PCI Express on the bottom. The number of the top of my chip is 216DDPAVA12FAG, is there anyway I can confirm that it is not a FireGL.

That appears to be an ATI Mobility Radeon X1450 chip.

216DDPAVA12FAG 90 ATI IC M64-CSP128 216DDPAVA12FAG
vendor: 1002 ("ATI Technologies Inc"), device: 718d ("M64CSP128 [Mobility Radeon X1450]")
