T61p Won't suspend

#1 Post by mixz1 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 9:16 pm

6459-CTO, 3GB RAM, Win 7 Ultimate clean Install. BIOS and all System Update drivers installed except Access Connections. Computer runs perfectly. Hibernate works fine. Wake on LAN is disabled. The computer will not suspend. It goes dark, the little moon LED lights and 10 seconds later it wakes up although screen stays dark until the keyboard or Trackpoint is touched. Doesn't matter which way the computer is suspended, shortcut, menu select or lid close. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Put your machine into sleep mode. Right after it wakes back up, start an administrative command prompt and type: powercfg -lastwake to see what caused the machine to wake up.

Thanks. I stumbled into the solution. The Wake on LAN feature has two components; powered or battery. I had the powered profile configured, but not the battery profile. Why it should affect the machine when it's on standby but plugged in is beyond me. But disabling Wake on LAN in both profiles did the trick. Again, thanks for the reply.
