MS Office 2003 32bit on Win 7 64 bit

#1 Post by archer6 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 1:46 pm

After some rather extensive searching, I've yet to come up with a clear answer.

I have the original disks for MS Office 2003 & OneNote 2003. I also saved the downloaded files for each SP3 service pack.

The question is: will these install onto a 64bit Win 7 machine? After installation (but before first launch and activation) I would install service pack 3.

On the MS site, it seems this is possible, however I've also read several posts to the contrary.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

I have no interest in upgrading to 2007 since 2010 is months away.

Thanks

Office 2003 installed and ran fine for me on the RC 64bit version.

I know multiple people who ran older (2003 and 2002) versions of office on win 7 64 bit. It should work without any problems whatsoever.

Good luck

Running Office XP (aka version 10 or 2002) on 64bit with absolutely no problems so far (although I've only used Word/Excel/PowerPoint).

One should expect, therefore, that 2003 would run OK.

Any 32 bit application should run fine on a 64 bit operating system. The problem may still arise with programs that worked fine in XP that will not work in 7. Those issues probably have to do with API being changed and such.
