Problem installing windows 7 on a x300

#1 Post by DragonCooler » Mon Mar 08, 2010 4:43 pm

I currently have windows 7 ultimate on my thinkpad x300. The install went fine, no drivers needed etc.. Well I am needing to downgrade to windows 7 professional and I am having a major problem. After the windows 7 install boots and loads and when it comes to selecting the drives and partitions, IT DOES NOT SEE MY SSD DRIVE AT ALL AND ASKS FOR DRIVERS. I have attempted to update the bios from 1.09 to 1.10, but that didnt help. What drivers is it asking for and am I doing something wrong because windows 7 asking for normal SATA drivers in not right.

Please I really need help!!

Actually looking through the error, it is looking for the CD-Rom device driver... WTF is this windows 98 all over again???

Anyone know where I can get the DVD-Rom device driver?

If you haven't tried this already go into the bios and under configuration\SATA change to compatibility.

That was an excellent idea. I got excited, but I tried it and it still doesnt work. This is getting really irratating. Why is this happening. Does windows 7 ultimate have more preset drivers than windows 7 professional?

Please I still need help.

OMG!! Why didnt I think of this earlier. I copied everything over to a USB Drive and made it bootable. It is working so far. Its amazing what you can think of when you are not pressed to fix something....
