T60 CPU running hotter with W7

I have set up a dual boot with XP and W7 on my t60 t2400. After rebuilding the search indexing the W7 system settled down however the XP setup definitely runs a bit cooler with less fan cycling (using TPFancontrol). Is that just the way it is?

Hi I have a t60 with X1300 and a t2400 CPU as well-i never noticed it getting hot and i have ran both XP, Win7 & Linux. How much ram are you running?

Hello,

Running 2.5GB RAM. I have a couple of gadgets on the desktop. I also just turned off Aero to see if it made a difference. CPU is running 2-3% at idle, With Aero running a couple of percent higher. Right now the machine is cycling between 61-65C with Fan at about 2900 rpm. I was going to clean the fan and replace the thermopaste but the machine is still under warranty.
