Windows 7/Tablet orientation questions

#1 Post by RaviN » Sun Jul 04, 2010 5:38 pm

I've got the chance to evaluate an X60T with Windows 7 Ultimate. This unit has the high resolution color screen that requires the stylus. Looking for some guidance on questions like the ones below.

1) Can the tablet buttons be mapped to Shift and/or Control keys? I can map them to actions but haven't found how to do so for regular keys. Need this for multiple select in programs like Inkscape, Excel, etc.

2) Haven't found much on what the two buttons on the stylus do. Any suggestions of where to look for how to configure them?

3) Is it safe to put one's hand on the keyboard during stylus operations or is it best to write with the hand elevated?

4) Handwriting recognition: I've trained it with the 50 sentences. It works well except for entering URLs. Is there some trick to getting it to keep '.'s without turning them into spaces or other punctuations and/or coming up with weird words? I've had a very hard time, for example, getting it to recognize forum.thinkpads.com and eventually typed it in with the keyboard
