I'm curious if anyone else is using the Vista video drivers successfully on Windows 7 for the FireGL V5200?
I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my new (to me) T60p yesterday. I noticed that the stock Windows driver did not do Aero effects so I went to the Lenovo driver site and downloaded the display drivers for Vista and installed them. I realize that I was risking the stability of the OS by doing so, but it was a new install and I could always reload it. They ended up working fine though, including the Catalyst Control Center. Anyone else running Vista video drivers on Windows 7? Are there unforeseen problems that I might encounter doing so?
Here is a screen capture showing the 3D performance to be acceptable. No crashes, everything working as expected with over 6 hours of time on the install.

since both vista and 7 have the new WDM? driver model, they are almost entirely compatible - I cannot see you having any problems with the vista drivers.

Thank you. For some reason I was under the impression that the two OS's may not have necessarily used the exact same drivers.

I've following experience with FireGL V3200 and Windows 7. If I'm:
1. installing Windows 7 when T43p is connected to internet, Windows Update downloads driver from Microsoft automatically, and then I am not able to install original IBM's Vista driver (reinstalling the driver is not helpfull)
2. installing Windows 7 when T43p is disconnected from internet (cable unplugged), then the graphics is detected as "generic VGA adapter" or something like that and I'm able to install Vista driver.
