Z60t Audio Not Working

#1 Post by Snort » Sat Sep 25, 2010 8:14 pm

Hello All, I have a fresh install of W7 on my Z60t, it's a 2511-EAU, with no sound output. Device Manager reports High Definition Audio device is present and doesn't complain about a driver missing, but no other real details show up for the driver. I tried looking for other drivers, but I'm not really shure where to look, or what the specs are even for this audio chip. Sound was working fine with the official Lenovo XP install.

Any ideas on how to track this one down? Thanks.

are you using the driver that windows 7 gave you? i know that the vista drivers are included in the os. you could try using the xp driver in the link above. make you you read the page, there's things you have to install before you install the driver. don't automatically install the driver just download and save it. then go into device manager and click on the audio driver and click update driver. you want to manually update the driver. go to where the driver was downloaded to and click driver. then manually update it.i've heard of people who can't get their audio to work right under windows 7. they've been using xp drivers for their displays and audio. i had to do the same thing with the graphics driver.

Thanks for the comment, sorry for the delay in responding. Update to the BIOS has solved the sound problem, fresh install of W7 has audio working without any issues. Wireless is sporadic, trying the Vista driver which seems more stable.

make sure you check the settings in your power plan in windows. check change plan settings, under wireless check power savings make sure both are checked for maximum performance. also in device manager, right click your wireless adapter and check properties, uncheck "allow windows to turn off this device to save power".

one of the problems that i found with windows 7 is there are settings everywhere. just changing one doesn't change the others. i had to hunt for everything.

great you got the sound working.

Thanks for the tip. It seems to be working with the Vista driver, Atheros chip.
