installing windows 7 on 2 machines

#1 Post by elvair » Sun Jan 02, 2011 7:01 am

Hey guys,

Here is the questions - I have a proper installation disk with Wind 7 ult 32, and I actually have 2 machines on which I would like to use it. So what is actually stopping me from installing and activating it on 1 machine then by the same token installing and activating it on the 2nd machine as well ?

Nothing will stop you from doing it, but you'll need (2) different COA's (software licenses) to activate them both.

well fair enough, so whats stopping me from activating them both using single key ?

im going through similar process very oftne when say i reformat my drive, reinstall my OS with different hardware configuration for example. In effect all those "reinstalls" are like different machines, isnt that right ? So effectively nothing is stopping me from installing "single key" into different machines and using windows in activated state or is that not right ?

Microsoft's activation process will prevent you from activating the same key twice...unless it is a Corporate license.

Its not right... but since you seem to want to be argumentative, I suggest you just do it, and see for yourself what happens.
