I've owned my X201T for about a month now and I've had very few issues with it so far, but I've got one annoying problem that I can't seem to isolate.
It must have been triggered by a Windows update or something, this is the first time I'm noticing the issue since I've been using the new machine, but whenever I open an audio file or do anything navigating in Explorer (pressing the forward and backward buttons or opening a folder) I get the black and white ThinkVantage volume notification popping up near the bottom of the screen to tell me what level the volume is at.
It's quite annoying and I don't think it's specific to my media player program (it happens when I open a file in VLC, WMP, foobar2000, etc) but I'm wondering why this notification is popping up all the time and how I can disable it. I have my audio running through an external sound card (M-Audio Fast Track Pro) which is connected via USB but I doubt the external device is the cause since the same pop ups happen when the Fast Track Pro is not connected.
I still want the computer to display this notification when I change my system volume, but not every single time I go up a directory in Explorer or listen to a song in VLC. What's going on here?
EDIT: If I have the computer running on battery mode the notifications do not pop up.

Re: ThinkVantage volume notification popping up all the time
I have this problem as well on a docked R400, but I know for a fact it only started happening since I started using the SPDIF interface on the dock for audio output. I'll just camp on here to see if any solutions come along. I've disabled the OSD in advanced display properties for the time being.

Re: ThinkVantage volume notification popping up all the time
Hmm.
Well I ran Windows Update again and there were one or two security fixes I installed. I dunno if these updates were related to the notifications issue but I'm not getting the constant pop ups in my current session of Windows 7.
Something makes me think this is related to power management, possibly some obscure setting in the ThinkVantage power manager (all though I am not using those power profiles and instead am using the default Windows settings) but that might also explain why you're experiencing the same issue while docked.
EDIT: Scratch that. Upon a fresh restart I'm getting the same issue again. Went through the ThinkVantage power controls and couldn't find any relevant settings to these popups. How frustruating
