How well does Win 7 work on a T43 w/Intel graphics?

I'm getting a T43 with 2GB of ram with Intel graphics. Will I see a big difference over XP?

Is it worth it over Win XP?

Just curious everyones opinion..............

Win7 ran fine for me on the very same machine. I thought it to be a little faster than XP, although I never benchmarked it, so it could have been just perception. I had two issues. One, it would not run Aero. Not a biggie, although I do like it on my other TP's. Second, I had trouble withe the latest Thinkvantage Power Manager. It may not be 100% compatible with the T43. OTOH, it could be I screwed up something along the way when updating etc. because I am sure it worked for a while. Maybe if you try an earlier version prior to 3.31. I didn't have the time to mess around with it and just used Win power management which was just fine. Everything else worked great, I ran Windows updates, then installed and ran the Lenovo Update for everything else and everything was good to go.

I had a T43p w/ AMD graphics that I ran Win7 on the day it went RTM. Worked like a charm, Aero and all. It's quite possible you won't get Aero w/ an older Intel graphics chip, but everything else should perform similarly. My T43p had 2GB RAM, I would strongly recommend upgrading to 2GB if it doesn't already have it. Win7 runs ok on 1GB, but you will notice a performance drop. 2GB is well worth it.

Be prepared to lose some of the battery life, as Mike stated no Aero, apart from that runs fine.

I tried Win 7 and went back to XP..XP is faster over Win 7 and of course, like George states, battery life is better with XP..
