What is the wireless status thing in the taskbar?

#1 Post by ReCreate » Sat Jan 29, 2011 7:33 pm

Sorry for the undescriptive title. But i'm looking for the program that shows the wireless status in the taskbar in windows 7, that looks like this.
Image
(but the one that shows the wireless status instead of battery status)
It's supposed to come with thinkpads with windows 7, but after installing windows 7 i downloaded everything from lenovo's site and i still don't have it.

Fn+F5 Wireless radio on/off switching

Enable or disable the built-in wireless networking features ( the IEEE 802.11 standard) and the Bluetooth features. If this combination of keys are pressed, a list of wireless features is displayed in the Wireless Radio Control window. The user can quickly change the power state of each feature in the list.

Don't forget to download the Windows updates...then Windows 7 should enable the wifi icon.

Good luck.

I tried that. that only enabled bluetooth. Wifi is always on regardless. And even then it doesnt appear. But it isn't supposed to be an icon, its supposed to be a bar. Like the battery bar, but for wifi. Perhaps you may have misunderstood?

Did you install Access Connections from System Update? Access Connections will give you the option of showing the green, graduated bar graph in the task bar
