I am running W7 pro on a t60, I have noticed that when I hook it up to an external monitor, it appears to be rather slow when the screen saver (bubbles) comes on. any suggestions?

What appears slow when the screen saver comes on? If my screen saver comes on then the PC is not doing a lot, so I find your statement confusing.
Please supply more information.
