Is Win 7 System Repair Disk different for different PCs?

#1 Post by john1in2 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 12:34 pm

I have a number of computers running Windows 7. I made a couple of "System Repair Disks" from PC#1 in case I need to boot from the optical drive and install a backup made using the Win7 backup feature.

My question is whether I need to make a System Repair Disk from each of my Win7 PCs and use that disk for that PC, or are these disks all the same and so I can use the same disk burned from PC#1 to boot the other PCs in case of emergency?

All my PCs are running Win 7 Pro 64 bit. And all have different, authorized copies of Win 7 as mentioned earlier.

That was a good question, so I took the system repair disc that I made from an hp running 7 ultimate and I booted it up on an x32 running 7 pro.

It boots up and goes to the repair menu and it automatically scans for windows installations. Then it lists the installation and gives you the options to repair it or restore from an image that was created.

So, I guess that means that it will work for any windows 7 installation in any computer, no matter the make or model.

After I took it out the x32 booted right up like it was supposed to.

I also booted it up on another hp running 7 ultimate and same thing.
