7 operating 32bit NEED 64bit Whats the easiest way to change

#1 Post by thediserp » Sat May 07, 2011 8:36 am

I probably shoud try google to search this site because I cannot be the first to ask this question but my searches continue to come up EMPTY, The only 7 disc I have is a 30 day trial, 1 Machines came from eBay and had 7 64bit, some nitwit  tried tweaking it :help: (me), I've been swapping Hard drives and I know this isn't a good idea. the three systems I have over 2.99Gb of memory seem slower than if I used only 2Gb of Memory with 7 32bit?, two of these systems ran smooth and fast with Vista Business, and Vista Ultimate? Can anyone help :help: :?: :?

your post is a bit hard to follow, sorry.

there's no in-place upgrade path between x86 and x64 windows. you'll need to back up your personal files, etc and install x64 cleanly, then reinstall your apps and restore your personal files.

Thanks, when I do anything with my disc I see the x86, I had no idea I was looking for it to say x64? Do I need to upgrade or buy X64?
Thanks again,

retail win7 packages come with both x86 and x64 disks. if you have a valid license key it will work with either version, so if you've got a friend or colleague with the disk, you could borrow it to do the install.

You can also download the x64 .iso from the internet and make your own disk, if you already have a licence.

...as long as you are confident of the iso source and the checksums match.

if you're suggesting torrents, they can be scary places, especially for operating systems.
download at your own peril. i wouldn't.

If the hashes match, whether or not you got it from a torrent shouldn't matter.
