Windows 7 settings

#1 Post by Bookworm » Mon Aug 08, 2011 6:28 pm

Don't install Microsoft Encarta Language Learning Spanish Deluxe.

I did, and all the text in many dialog boxes incluing System Restore, dissappeared.

When I try to uninstall the program, absolutely nothing happens. I click on the program name in Remove Programs and it doesn't even ask if I want to uninstall it. The window just flickers once. How do I get rid of this program?

I can't try fixing the text problem in the font settings. Windows 7 doesn't have font settings.

When I try to change the screensaver, the list of screensavers is grayed out. How do I repair this?

Have you tried doing a system restore to a point before you installed Encarta?

All text in the system restore window and/or dialog box is blank.

I did get rit of the Encarta languae program. I found uninst32 in its program files folder, but it wanted an install log called "INSTALL". There wasn't one, but there was a text file called "INST00A" that contained installation data. I renamed it "Install" and the uninstall worked, but the text in many places, including system restore, is blank.

I forgot to mention that I was also using Windowblinds at the time, and Windowblinds can make Windows Explorer violently unstable. Uninstalling it usualy fixes that. It didn't help this time either.

What genius decided to get rid of the font controlls in Windows 7 anyway? Someone should hunt him down and clobber hin with a Powerbook!
