An R51 Thank You

With a little bit of generosity from a couple of guys, I am 1 keyboard away from building 4 R51's for donation. With the junk I already had, the junk they donated and $100.00 I was able to put together 4 machines: 40 gig HDD, at least 1.5 gig memory, G wireless, XP, Office, Avast and 1 hour batteries. Not too shabby. Not perfect machines by any stretch....but perfectly usable machines.

By the way, after a long line of T30/R40....the R51 is by far the biggest PITA to reassembly correctly!

Thanks
Ron

That's great to hear Ron, good luck with that :) .

I still have my R51, which I got back in 2004 and was my main computer from 2004-2008. I used it during my high school years ('04-'08) and never had any problems with it (with the exception of the Loose GPU issue, but that's another story). I dropped it quite a few times (at school) and always worked with no issues. Whomever receives these R51's will enjoy them. I think what you're doing is great.

Good work!

It is nice knowing that you are not only donating something needed, but you are giving something that is of sufficient quality to fill the need for a sustained time.

I've gotten some great deals on a few T60's that are helping to run a mission in Honduras I have worked with for some time. It is hard to appreciate the difference good technology can make until you struggle through with junk for a while.

Again, way to go Ron. I missed your post as well, but don't currently have a way to confirm if any of my T4/R4 era stuff is still working. And no keyboard of that era either - though I have an A22 one lying around, should a need arise. And an abundance of Toshiba Tecra M2/M3/M5 parts should that come up.
