The "first version" of OSX is the slowest, and each version released has been faster and faster on older and older hardware.

Version 10.0 will run like molasses on a fast G4, while Panther and Tiger are quick and nimble on even a slower G3.

More proof that Batuta hasn't got a clue what he's talking about, though of course he insists he's the expert on everything and smarter than the rest.

If you want to waste your time on PearPC, its not my problem. If, on the other hand, you prefer to trust not what I say, but what pretty much the entire Mac community says, emulation suck and real hardware is always best.

I have to go with you asiafish on the speed issue. Panther flys like none other on the iMac G3's I described earlier. It's a shame the screens on those comps are nothing to phone home about. Performance is almost on par with the 700mhz G4 tower a good friend of mine has, but that computer does have ne of the older Mac OS versions. I don't tink it's original X but it is before they did the facelift.

As far as the emulation software another member [admin edit] has, I'm really not looking for a full blown Mac setup, just a simple cheap way to stay somewhat in sync with my printing class at school, so I'm not expecting Mac like perfromance, I just wanted to know if the software was useable. I'm also not too worried about resources as my home desktop has over 1gb RAM and a new 7200rpm 120gb WD Caviar hard drive with an 8mb buffer.
