Just how old is the red, green and blue IBM lettering...

The red green and blue logo was around on ThinkPAds from the get go with the ThinkPad 700c, but I found an old circa 1959 typewriter ad in which IBM has thier logo in red green and blue. Most of you won't give a [censored], but for some odd reason, I thought it to be somewhat eye catching.

I had some of the early Thinkpads - IBM didn't use the 3-color logo on Thinkpads until they added color screens across the line, denoted by a "c" in the name of the model (700c, 500cs, etc). They dropped the "c" denotation once color LCDs became the standard.

According to a co-worker that used to work for Big Blue, the 3-color logo was used in print media since the 40s, but he can't quote a cite.

If I'm not mistaken, the 700 and 700c were both introduced in 1992, thus kicking off the ThinkPad line. If I'm accurate with this information, the rgb ThinkPad logo is the same age as the blue ThinkPad logo.

As far as that typewirter add I linked, I just thought it was amusing because in the thumbnail view on that site, it almost did look like a ThinkPad logo.
