Sometimes Google comes up with something decent... (PIC)

#1 Post by DaKKS » Thu Feb 28, 2013 2:12 pm

This is a nearly three year old (2010-05) Samsung N140 netbook running a slightly modified version of Hexxeh's Chromium OS Build 3770 (2013-02-27). Battery was calibrated less than 24 hours ago.

Settings: Brightness: 50% Wifi: On

Stock Windows 7 Starter: ~3:50 hours. Linux Ubuntu 12.04: ~4:20 hours

Cheers.

I havent been able to run it down completely yet, but so far (around 70%) it seems pretty consistent with the estimation.

My sister had a look at the code (she's way better at this than i am) and apparently, Chromium downclocks the atom cpu to 300mhz when powersave kicks in. Windows and ubuntu both run it at 600, even on power save. I had no idea the n270 could even go that low...

That's quite impressive. Although... regardless, Atom processors are notable for being completely frugal. I got close to 6 hours in Win 7 Starter on a HP Mini 210, browsing the web and listening to music. I wonder how Chromium would do on there...?
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...
