Deciphering Outlet model numbers

#1 Post by stuartf » Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:06 am

I have been making frequent visits to the Lenovo outlet and find that many of the model numbers they list are not in the psref list from Lenovo. The descriptions on the outlet site are minimal and I would like to know what I am getting before I purchase.

For example, today there is an x220, model number 4286-CTR, not sure if this is some sort of CTO model. There are also full four number/ three letter(or number and letters) models that do not appear.

Other than calling them, and that is not been helpful at times, is there anyway to uncover the specs of these mystery models?

CTR is a refurbished CTO.

Good luck with everything else...

When they list a CTR model, usually, they also list the serial number of that machine as well. With that information you can go here:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ookup.page
or here:
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/po ... al=R9P7KTC
and check what parts exactly ship with the machine. (The warranty info will not be correct as you'll get a new 1 year depot warranty starting with the ship date.)
