The new ultrabay!

#1 Post by QWERTY Andreas » Fri May 03, 2013 1:13 am

So i say this video, with the ideapad Y500.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 3AH9JP7HE4

It have a ultrabay, with some very delicate options!

DVD/Blue-ray (nothing new here)
2. HDD (nothing new either)
Extra fan (would be nice.. But not needed)

SLI support, for dual Graphics Card (now THIS is interesting!)

Do you think the SLI-support, will make it to the new thinkpads, in the T and W series?

It would maybe allow, for upgrading T-series with Intel Graphics, to discrete Graphics machines? Or give high-end T/W series SLI support?

I think it would be a very nice move, by lenovo. Going even further, it could allow connections of external, high-end, PCI-e Graphics Card, to use with external monitors?

I really hope the SLI-support will make it to the TPs.. And a ultrabay battery

It is a nice idea, but I think there is a big problem: This bay on the Y500 is not hot-swappable like the UltraBay used in ThinkPads (because you can´t take the GPU out of the notebook when the Notebook is on). Thats a big problem, because loosing the hot-swap feature would be a bummer. But otherwise it is a good idea.

And :thumbs-UP: for the Ultrabay battery. I think this could happen with the next generation of ThinkPads (because with the new hinges, there is no more room for the extended battery at the back of the device).
