Adding Speakers to a monitor

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Sat Jun 01, 2013 10:59 pm

I have a 19" IBM 4549-HC1 LCD Monitor "http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l48 ... a549e8.jpg" It has the Standard, VGA and a DVI port. I got a Philips HDMI to DVI adapter and I can play XBOX and PlayStation on the monitor but no sound. Is there a similer adapter where it has a AUX and HDMI. And is there a IBM speaker rail for this monitor, I think they made one for these monitors. I think a HDMI with Audio splitter would be easier to find.

I have done the same thing myself, but I used a HDMI audio extractor, it came with a USB cable for power, but I didn't need it as it was powered via the HDMI cable, it also didn't cost much at all, here is the link to one I got from ebay

For some reason the seller is no longer selling them but as you can see he has sold loads, So I looked about and found another seller selling the same thing

As for the sound bar I would use a small set of desktop speakers with a sub to get a nice bit of sound.

Ive been debaiting on eathier getting this or a Mini PCI HDMI AverMedia captuer card. I have a AverMedia PCI composit / S-Video / Coax for playing older game consoles on the PC. I figured this is the faster easy way to play consoles on the PC instead of emulating them.
