S-Video for LCD Tv

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:13 am

I have a Sony Bravia 32" LCD HDTv 1080p. It has 2 HDMI ports, 1 Coax, 1 Compontent set, 1 RCA composit set, 1 VGA Port with RCA sound ports, 1 digital Audio port, and a USB port. I didnt find a S-Video port on the Tv and was woundering if there are adapters to maybe plug into a HDMI port or even Compontent. I use S-video for older systems like game consoles and my ThinkPads witch was like HD back in that day compared to RCA composit or Coax. And wanting to show the best possible picture my older consoles can do over S-Video.

Just use the RCA composite input for the game console, you won't be able to see any difference between it and an S-video connection on a modern TV. It would not be worth the cost of an adapter (if one exists) to use such a low quality interface anyway, IMHO. And use the VGA port for the older ThinkPads. It will look MUCH better than S-video anyway.

There are S-Video to Composite adapters (I had one). You would be somewhat better off using the VGA output - if you can...

S-VIDEO's horrible use VGA or HDMI if you can.

I have this excact adapter "http://forum.videohelp.com/images/guide ... dapter.jpg" and it is reading it but says unsupported signal. I use to use this adapter on my old tube tv to connect my desktop to it. Is this the VGA output your talking about?

Or is there a switch type box where it will give me more ports of 1 S-Video, 2 HDMI, 1 RCA, 1 VGA, 1 Compontent and plugs directly into a HDMI port on the Tv?

Also since im talking about my Tv. Is there a big diffrence in picture between my Sony Bravia KDL-32BX420 1080p LCD compared to a LED Tv?

Primarily the difference between CCFL backlight and LED backlight is color temp. and longevity. Not much dif, IMHO, in picture quality. Now if you looking to upgrade, look at a 4K model, there are some differences you can see (if you get really close to the screen). Not so much from 10' away.
