Sony Bravia KDL32BX420

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Sun Oct 13, 2013 1:16 am

I have my PS3 hooked up to my Sony 32" LCD tv and using the HDMI cable. I thought at first it was the disc or laser reading the disc on my PS3 and cleaned all the dust out and still the problem. I switched to my Sony DVD upscale player and still the problem. Then I thought it was the HDMI cable its self, witch is an offical Sony brand HDMI / High Speed HEC. I reached around to giggle the cord and notice the audio and picture came back on and left alone for awail "Month" and tonight did it again and switched the HDMI cable with one of my GE cables. It played fine for about 10min and started doing it again. Did the samething to the cord to find it has to be the HDMI port, so I plug it into HDMI 2 and their is only 2 HDMI ports on my tv. Soon after the tv lost Audio and was showing red rain like drops on the screen. So is this tv almost dead? Or is just the HDMI ports going bad, Its a Jan 2011 Tv.

When I used to play console games I went through 4 HDMI cables within five years compared to 2 RGB/S-video cables that work fine, hell even the old RF adapters still work.
I would say it is the cables. Sad thing is that I just given up on "quality" cables as they only seem to last as long as a "cheap" one.
Your choice though, insulation seems to be a big thing when it comes to long cable lengths...

See if a different type of connector will work on the unit. But I made the mistake on my PS3 by connecting it to an "old" tv with RCA cables and accidentally erased the HDD when trying to hard reset it, so maybe try out that DVD player first.

I have had a Dynex 32" since 2010 that works fine... unless its the reason why it goes through HDMI cables. :??:
I don't know how the quality of Sony TVs, but I highly doubt thats the case. Have yet seen or heard a bad LCD TV story, plasma yes.

I'll try cleaning it, as it was dusty on the back. After that It seemed to work for now, atleast for the 20min of playing GTA on it. I never heard or read about HDMI ports going bad. I checked the port and it dont seem loose. I like the tv as its just a basic 1080p and no stuff on it like internet and streaming, I just like the basic stuff.
