FYI for all you whom I've already sent an invite... Gmail seems to be really badly overloaded this weekend, I haven't seen anything like this the past months I've used the service. Looks like google can't keep up with the exponential growth :D

Keep trying to log in every now and then if the service is busy or you get error messages.

It does seem to be slower this weekend than it was Thursday and Friday, and I still haven't gotten any invites to give out. Wonder if they are having problems with the burst of growth that they had last week?

I too noticed a few hours where gmail became overloaded and I was unable to access it.

As for invites - is getting those contingent on actually sending mail? I've only bounced a couple emails between my gmail account and my other accounts to test it out.

nikeman,

Did you try asking at http://gmailswap.com ? It took about 45 minutes of some serious and eloquent begging promising my eternal gratitude to get my first invite. Then I got one for my cousin in about 12 hours at http://gmailbyclayburn.blogspot.com/ There are also some available in the FS/FT forum at http://fatwallet.com

Hope this helps!

You'll see a link "Invite a friend to gmail" on the main gmail page.
