Static Ip's and wireless access points.

#1 Post by fefrie » Sat Aug 30, 2014 11:03 pm

I have a main router, and I have a backup router that I want to use to extend the range of my wireless network.

My main router ip address is 192.168.1.1

I'll assign the 2nd router an address of 192.168.1.2, but turn the DHCP off. (or should I assign it 192.168.2.1)

If I access the internet via the second router, can static ip addresses still be assigned by the main router?

If the 2nd router is set to bridge to the frist one, then the first router will handel DHCP, DNS, static routes, etc.

So, yes.
