Some good memories tied to their early stuff on my end...aptivaboy wrote:38 Special.
Not me. Hated - and still do - at least 85% of the music that came out during that decade...I miss the '80s.
Listening to Rush's "2112" album for the zillionth time and falling in love with it all over again...

Spinning some Tanya Tucker and "San Antonio Stroll" in my bedroom studio on 45 RPM on my Technics SP-25/Audio-Technica ATP 16-T/Ortofon Omega combo with a McIntosh MX 114 tuner/preamplifier and my McIntosh MC 2505-2 power amplifier driving my Dynaco A-25 loudspeakers. My office!

Re: What music are you listening to right now?
This thread will likely betray people's relative ages.
I personally do not like much music from the last few years. I cant think of any artist that has truly wowed me.
I do like a lot of what people may call classic or even "dad rock" (eww this term).
I like Queen, I like a lot of English rock, even progressive like Yes, to 1980s new wave like Spandau Ballet. I do even like a lot of American stadium rock like Van Halen. Although I do like male stars, I do like the legendary females like Kate Bush, Dusty Springfield, Diana Krall.
I am often instantly moved to tears when rock stars die, 2016 has been a horror year... Prince, David Bowie.
I love the clever use of classic pop and rock in TV shows. Current shows like "the Americans" which has a lot of 70's music is what I like.
I also do love movie soundtracks which is popular with some but probably not looked well upon by the mainstream.
I wouldnt say I'm a huge fan of the current generation like Hans Zimmer, nor even John Williams etc.
My favorite composer would be late Basil Poledouris.
My favourite contemporary composer would be Diego Navarro and the Tenerife Orchestra.

I haven't listened to them lately, but Country Joe and the Fish seems apropos for the times.
I like good music even when I don't understand the language. Sometimes I listen to world music stations to hear artists that I otherwise would not be aware of. Recently I found this youtube video of Indila live in Paris after hearing her on a Pandora station.

Good Lord talk about a blast from the past. Had this album on a cassette back in the days. Haven't heard it in at least 20 years.
The mood around here is slightly different:

Although I've only gotten to shake hands with Jack Bruce once, I miss him dearly. His music, to be precise. Missing of *him* as a human being is something that I'd leave to his family and friends.

Re: What music are you listening to right now?
I've got the Infected album that's off of in .mp3 format. There is a whole "movie" of each video from songs on the album, I remember seeing it on USA network late at night back in '87. Youtube has the Infected live action video but the rest I saw were just recordings off the album.ajkula66 wrote:Good Lord talk about a blast from the past.
