After seeing the IBM PCs ThinkPad/ThinkCentre & older, sold to Lenovo in 2005 and the Servers side to Lenovo in 2014, I don't think theirs much left for solid built PCs. It's been 10 years since you saw the IBM logo on the PC. I quit working with IBM repair in 2007 fixing and selling IBM ThinkPads and desktops, I still use all IBM laptops and desktops today, even if they are old. I just upgraded my ThinkCentre M50 desktop with a Intel board with a Intel Core i7 in it to keep up with getting online and the latest Windows. I watch online tech reviews and mostly SmartPhones and tablets has taken over now. Even smartphones are becoming the need to use anything today "witch I still don't own a smart device" It's been awhile since I heard anything about ThinkPads as I guess they have fallen into the normal basic laptop category today.
I miss the 80s and 90s where you had the IBM PC VS Apple much like Nintendo VS Sega, But I do miss the days when their was no internet. I don't come online as much as I use to due to my internet service and it just feels over used/depending on by billions today, I still rather do project stuff outside. Most of the games today are becoming Internet required too, So I'm just keeping with my older games, I only own 2 games that require internet and that is Diablo III and Elder Scrolls Online, Just 2 of the series I started with in the 90s. I liked going to local shops and getting info on tech stuff / games or just to talk to people in person. But it seems technology has gone so far since the 80s and 90s and I have stain behind. I just saw on a tv commercial that you can buy a robot.. and coming this year self driving cars. It feels like I'm watching back to the future part II except with no flying cars yet. So does anyone else have any future or past missing want to talk about or wanting to see coming out? And PC future specs?

Re: The Future and without IBM PCs
Why would anyone care about IBM desktops? They were decent, but Dell's business-class desktops are better AND cheaper. The Optiplexes and Dimensions are by far the most popular business-class desktops, because they are really, really excellent. Get one of these and toss your IBM dinosaur already.ThinkPad560X wrote:I still use all IBM laptops and desktops today, even if they are old. Very briefly back in 2009, I had a Pentium 4 IBM ThinkCentre (the M50?) and wasn't impressed by it at all.
BTW, check out this thread that I started back in July 2005:

Dell are OK unless you get stiffed for one of the Dell only spares. UK prices are really stupid.
