Put together a workbench for my thinkpad tooling operation *PIC*
I have seen many posts here with where thinpads.com forum members work on their thinkpads. My thinkpad collection reached 15 Thinkpads. I decided I needed a dedicated work area in the garage to assemble, repair and modify thinkpads. I also build gaming PC's as a hobby. Here is my just completed workbench.

Wow - that's a fine piece of woodworking. What's the secret for those furniture-quality mortise & tenon joints?

Ah, it looks like something from IKEA

I'd need one about 5X the size in order to handle the carcasses currently in my office at home.
edit: In case it wasn't clear by my comment, I should note that I'm not one of those who think IKEA products are sub-standard. I have several of their furniture items (bookcases, drawers, nightstand) and they were easy to assemble and have stood up with daily use.

The top of 1" solid wood. Most of the desk is solid wood. Here it is in the back of the garage. I am still organizing everything.

Very nice! But is it not a bit small for your current collection?
I'm quite sure your number of TPs may grow (it happened to all of use in a way or another)
Edit: Nice arcade on the left btw!

Re: Put together a workbench for my thinkpad tooling operation *PIC*
I have THREE 5-foot workbenches (along 3 of the 4 walls) and they are each overloaded with laptops and parts.
Plus stacks of spare parts all over the place in my office/workshop (which is only 12'x12').
My current collection is about 50 (all working) Thinkpads and one NEC Versa VXi.
Most stand vertically next to each other in a strong book case (from Ikea

Re: Put together a workbench for my thinkpad tooling operation
The garage is two car but three deep on the right side. Essentially I have a 20x12 space to work. I could add 4 or 5 work benches quite easily with room to spare.Tasurinchi wrote:Very nice! But is it not a bit small for your current collection?![]()

There are two more arcade machines next to Donkey Kong not pictured.
