For anyone about UPS, my experiences:

Do not put "gift" on package ever. :) And know how much declaration fee plus customs fee adds up by a call first to keep costs down. Even a 200 declared would not cost that much and brokerage wouldn't twitch that much.

By the way, UPS hires brokerage agencies to do assessments for customs costs and charge outrageous cost for their work on top.

Better yet, don't ship anything to Canada by UPS. I've been using USPS for years now and haven't had a problem in Canada yet.

I have done USPS to both Canada and Europe. Never an issue.

I've had one serious disaster in Russia where I ended up eating a nice chunk of change due to USPS' idiotic policies, and another one in the UK where Royal Mail seems to have dropped the ball and essentially left my customer - a fellow forum member - without any recourse to recover the damages...

Having said that, several of my claims for damage within U.S. were resolved without issues, unlike the ones that were placed with both FedEx and UPS.

Just about all of mine have been Small Flat Rate boxes, stuffed full of software. All of the European stuff has made it in under 7 days, roughly $10.00 If I remember correctly.

My experience, if posting internationally, better use local post office, or EMS
within US, just avoid FedEx, UPS is the best, and USPS isn't bad
within UK, there isn't much choice other than Royal Mail, Parcel force is absolutely rubbish. Royal mail wasn't bad but in recent years they are getting worse
within China, shunfeng(顺丰) is the best, every other one is okay, there's no "avoid list" so far

As a Canadian UPS is the worst. Will not deal with anybody who only ships UPS.
