PC stickers

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Sat Jul 25, 2015 3:04 am

I'm cleaning up my ThinkPads and finished putting the Designed for Windows XP on some with Intel Inside Centrino. Most of my ThinkPads have the Intel integrated graphics but can't find stickers for them like you would ATi or Nvidia witch most with Nvidia were CTO "Custom to order" and some came standard with ATi. http://laptoping.com/cpus/wp-content/up ... -N2830.jpg

"Cleaning up" in my eyes would be: removing all those useless stickers, but to each their own.
Because the majority of laptops is sold with integrated graphics, they never designed any "integrated" stickers.
AFAIK Intel stickers are only available for different CPUs, not GPUs.

This seller has quite a few alternatives on display: http://www.ebay.com/itm/220767053253

As you said, to each his own.

Years ago I used to remove the stickers. Now I just don't care.

Funnily enough, this thread made me go look on e-bay for "linux stickers." I found 2 very nice one's for my distro of choice - LinuxMint. Very, very tempting at $3 a pop.

I always thought having stickers on the PC desktop or laptop showing what it had in it seemed nice. Heres a photo of my first ThinkPad back in the day and still sometimes use it with new Intel Pentium inside and Windows XP stickers.
http://s262.photobucket.com/user/halfbr ... r.jpg.html Even has the IBM ThinkPad badge on it as I put on every one of my older ThinkPads that have a palmrest 760 and below can't. So my 560, 570, 770, 380Z, 600X, 390X and others have the badge, I will say they are getting harder to find the IBM ThinkPad badge, I just order some more and were only found in hong kong now, no more USA. And I think only one seller has them now. I may scan one and have it as a print size one so I can print them if needing. but these are true badge stickers and not like paper.

I'll remove them most of the time, especially if they are peeling.

If I am able to I like having the old Windows stickers of they aren't that messed up.

My problem im running into is their is some kinda of black stuff appearing on the silver coded stickers like Windows 95/98/ME/2000 & XP and Intel Centrino
I dont know if its some kinda of mildew or not.

And I still have the Windows 3.11/95/98 stickers on my 90s ThinkPads, Blue and black such as this one, even have the intel sticker and it kinda had the bump texture on it. http://www.rctech.net/forum/attachments ... c00005.jpg

Nice to see. The stickers add the little extra in my eyes. Time doesn't always fare well with the older stickers, but these are fine still.

I like to put stickers back on the laptop I restore and keep for collection, and I have through the years accumulated a wide selection of stickers, even some rare penguinista (Linux) ones. I might not always be technically correct in what I'm doing, as I always let the stickers reflect what OS and what hardware is actually inside. So there are a couple of strange ones, among other a 770Z with a PIII sticker, a T60 with a NVidia sticker, and a T30 with a Linux Mint sticker.

I remember fixing a IBM ThinkPad 380D and they wanted Linux installed on it with their CD they sent in, I put on a sticker that had the penguin on it that was around the XP size sticker.

Some of my older ThinkPads had the Windows 95 sticker on the bottom center of the laptop like how I seen some Windows 8 stickers on new laptops on the bottom now again.
